A Report on Waldens Ridge Park From Wild Trails

The geological history of the Cumberland Plateau spans hundreds of millions of years, from ancient seas that deposited the sandstone and limestone bedrock to the erosion that carved the deep gorges and caves we explore today. Understanding this history deepens our appreciation for the landscape.

The annual BioBlitz event at South Cumberland State Park brought together amateur naturalists and professional biologists to document as many species as possible in a 24-hour period. This year's count exceeded 400 species, including several previously unrecorded from the park. The data collected contributes to long-term monitoring of the park's biodiversity.
